No visit to Singapore is complete without a trip to the Gardens by the Bay, stunning to walk in the cool of the evening where there are less people.
Stay near the river by Clark or Boat Quay. In the evening wander down to restaurant row, as Singapore comes alive at night and eat fresh seafood while watching the light show at the Marina Bay Sands. Only a short stroll to China town for street food, if you still have room for a snack.
Use the MRT to get around, it is fast, cheap, clean and safe.

Purchase an Octopus Card at the arrivals counter at the airport. This card can be used for public transport, dining, shopping and entertainment all over Hong Kong and is easily reloaded.
Take a small umbrella as it does rain a lot, plus handy for shade.
Jump on the ferry to Lamma Island, for an escape from the city. A pretty island with a quaint fishing village and a beach to swim at, a perfect day trip.
There are the main markets (Ladies Market, Stanley Market) but for unique must-see markets visit the flower market, the bird market and the fish market, these are full of colour and give a fascinating insight into local life.
Do not do the cable car when you have the 12 hour transit day as the last thing to do, do it first or you are guaranteed to miss your plane.
