Many resorts offer meal plans, which are available to purchase before you depart. Plantation Island offers buffet breakfast, half board and full board options.
We purchased the half board meal plan and were pleased that we did. Half board means breakfast and dinner included.
Breakfast was in the Ol’ Copra Shed restaurant and there was so much on offer. Pancakes, cereals, hash browns, bacon, tropical fruit just to name a few. There was even someone cooking fresh omelettes, poached or fried eggs made to order. Drinks are also included and they have a selection of tea, coffee and juices available.
For dinner, you have the option of two restaurants a buffet style dinner at the Ol’ Copra Shed or an a la carte menu at the Black Coral restaurant. We did the buffet on the first night and it was nice but not very relaxing getting up and down especially with young kids. We found out that, you can book into the Black Coral restaurant and that it is even better. We went ahead, booked a table each night for the rest of our stay and were not disappointed! There is a playground and grass area for the children to run around and the restaurant has a relaxed intimate feel.
As part of the half board meal plan, you can choose any one main off the menu. I can highly recommend this everyone really enjoyed the meals. The kids get to choose from at least six mains and they get a juice and an ice cream, which was all included they were very happy!
For couples who want to be more flexible with their dining options perhaps a meal plan is not the way to go. However, for a family I think it is great and it worked so well for us.
