ITINERARY

DAY 1 - NEW ZEALAND - SANTIAGO, CHILE

Today depart from Auckland for Santiago, Chile. Fly with LATAM Airlines or Qantas Airways (subject to availability). Upon arrival into Santiago, you will be welcomed and transferred to the hotel.

DAY 2 - SANTIAGO CITY TOUR

After breakfast enjoy a half day panoramic tour of Santiago. See the Government Palace “La Moneda” (entrance not included), the historic centre of the Plaza de Armas, the Santa Lucia Hill, the Cathedral, the Central Post Office, the Municipality and the bohemian Bellavista neighbourhood, among others. During the tour you will enjoy a panoramic view of the Barrio Bellavista, recognised for its strong bohemian style; the Central Market, a nineteenth century building with more than 214 shops where you can try delicious traditional dishes; the Mapocho Station, a cultural centre reconverted in the 90s, which today is a space for cultural diffusion of the country; and the Museum of Fine Arts, one of the main centres of dissemination of visual arts in Chile, founded in 1880, being the first of Latin America. Finally, you will take a scenic drive through modern Santiago to reach the Faba store, which specialises in making Lapis Lazuli jewellery.

DAY 3 - SANTIAGO - BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA

Today enjoy a morning at leisure in Chile's capital city, Santiago, which sits in a valley surrounded by the snow-capped Andes. In the afternoon be transferred to the airport for your flight to Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina. Upon arrival be transferred to the hotel and enjoy the evening at leisure in this lively, cosmopolitan city.

DAY 4 - BUENOS AIRES - PUERTO IGUAZU

Today at the appropriate time be transferred to the airport for the flight to Puerto Iguazu. Relax for the remainder of the day in Puerto Iguazu, the gateway to Iguazu Falls in Iguazu National Park, home to hundreds of cascades. The town sits at the confluence of the Ríos Paraná and Iguazu and looks across to Brazil and Paraguay.

DAY 5 - IGUAZU FALLS (ARGENTINIAN SIDE)

Your journey today will bring you on a full day guided tour to the Argentinian side of Iguazu Falls, which is the best way to see and learn about some of the most spectacular waterfalls in the world. The three circuits (upper, lower and Devil’s Throat) each give a unique and unforgettable view of the falls from different angles. In this subtropical forest area, there is an incredible variety of ferns, orchids, begonias, birds and butterflies, among many others.

DAY 6 - PUERTO IGUAZU - BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA

After breakfast join a four-hour half day guided tour of the Brazilian side of Iguazu Falls. Travel through the vast Brazilian national park (entrance included), right up to the raised walkways which wind through the subtropical forest and eventually to the Devil’s Gorge. From here, you’ll get a panoramic view of the Argentine side of the falls: the perfect spot to take some photos. In the afternoon, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight back to Buenos Aires. Enjoy an evening at leisure in Buenos Aires or take the opportunity to join an optional evening show.

Optional Activity: Tango Show with Dinner - $125 per person
Around 8:00pm this evening you will be collected from the hotel and transferred to a “Tanguería” (Tango House) in the San Telmo neighbourhood, the birthplace of tango and one of the oldest barrios (neighbourhoods) of Buenos Aires. Arrive at a Conventillo, a historic tenement restored and now a restaurant/theatre, where La Ventana takes place. Kick off the night with a delicious three-course dinner and enjoy a live tango and folk bands, a gaucho demonstration and a moving tribute to Eva Perón. After the show, you will be transferred back to the hotel around midnight.

DAY 7 - BUENOS AIRES CITY TOUR - BEGIN 9 NIGHTS MSC SOUTH AMERICA CRUISE - DEPART AT 7:00PM

Today discover the magic of Buenos Aires! After breakfast enjoy a three-hour city bus tour where you will see the beautiful parks and gardens of the Recoleta and Palermo neighbourhoods, the Colon Theatre, Mayo Square, The Cathedral, traditional Mayo Avenue, Congress Square and many other significant buildings and palaces (entrances not included). The tour continues with a visit to San Telmo, the residence of the aristocracy until the end of the 19th century. After which you will have the opportunity to explore Caminito Street in La Boca. The tour bus will drop you in Central Buenos Aires where you can enjoy sometime at leisure before being transferred to the cruise terminal to embark on the wondrous 9-night South America cruise aboard the ‘MSC Musica’. The cruise will depart at 7:00pm.

DAY 10 - ILHA GRANDE, BRAZIL - 10:00AM TO 8:00PM

The perfect starting place to discover the jungle. As you approach the low-lying, whitewashed colonial port of Vila do Abraão in Ilha Grande, the mountains rise dramatically from the sea, and in the distance there’s the curiously shaped summit of Bico do Papagaio (“Parrot’s Beak”), which rises to a height of 980m and can be reached in about three hours. Ilha Grande comprises 193 square kilometres of mountainous jungle, historic ruins and beautiful beaches, excellent for some scenic tropical exploration.

DAY 11 - BUZIOS, BRAZIL - 8:00AM TO 8:00PM

Búzios is an impressively scenic resort bursting with high-spending people, and a very popular port of call on holidays to Brazil. Armação, the main settlement, is built in a slight colonial style, the streets lined with restaurants, bars and chic boutiques, and has been nicknamed “Brazil’s St Tropez”. It then comes as little surprise to find that it was “discovered” by none other than Brigitte Bardot, who stumbled upon it while touring the area in 1964.

DAY 12 - RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - 8:00AM TO 8:00PM

In its position on the southern shore of the magnificent Guanabara Bay, Rio de Janeiro has, without a shadow of a doubt, one of the most stunning settings in the world. Extending for 20km along an alluvial strip, between the azure sea and forest-clad mountains, the city’s streets and buildings have been moulded around the foothills of the mountain range that provides its backdrop, while out in the bay there are many rocky islands fringed with white sand.

DAY 13 - ILHABELA, BRAZIL - 7:00AM TO 2:00PM

Ilhabela is one of the most beautiful spots on the Brazilian coast between Santos and Rio. Of volcanic origin, the island’s startling mountainous scenery rises to 1370m and is covered in dense tropical foliage. With 83 percent of the island protected within the boundaries of the Parque Estadual de Ilhabela, the dozens of waterfalls, beautiful beaches and azure seas have contributed to the island’s popularity.

DAY 15 - PUNTA DEL ESTE, URUGUAY - 10:00AM TO 7:00PM

Situated on a narrow peninsula, Punta del Este is a glamorous location dotted with incredible restaurants, impressive casinos and boutique shops. The streets are bordered by some of the finest beaches on the coast and the harbour is home to super yachts from the world over. This is an exclusive and luxurious destination, and is considered to be the go to holiday spot for many South American celebrities. Enjoy strolling the promenade and trying some of the world class seafood.

DAY 16 - BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA - ARRIVE 9:00AM - NEW ZEALAND

This morning cruise into Buenos Aires. After breakfast, disembark and spend some time at leisure before making your own way to the airport for the return flight back to New Zealand. Guests can store their luggage at the port storage for a fee, if required, until transferring to the airport.
